February 6th, 2008 at 10:52 pm

Using a Laptop to Save Electricity

January 23rd, 2008 at 10:49 am

I'm I crazy? On Sunday I picked up a cheap Toshiba laptop at Best Buy for $450.00. My justification is to save power. I mostly use my computer to surf the net and to upload pictures to flikr, so I'm thinking the laptop will help.

My plan is to use my desktop, a Mac mini, for photo work and to check my email and to use the laptop for all my surfing. I'll see how this goes.

Yes, We have Coffee , Tea and Water

I haven't been much of a coffee or tea drinker. I usually only want one cup so a regular coffee maker would be a waste. Lately I've started to drink green tea for it's antioxidants.

Yesterday I bought the perfect device for me. It's the Hamilton Beach 3-1 hot beverage maker. It makes single cups at a time and you can use coffee ground, and pods, tea bags or pods and loose tea. Plus it can just generate hot water for instant soup or oatmeal. It was $25 dollars and I bought some coffee pods that work out to about 30 to 35 cents each, cheaper than Starbucks!

Rebate Check

January 7th, 2008 at 11:47 pm

Good news today. I got my $100 rebate check from Microsoft. Microsoft had an awesome deal for Mac users on Black Friday. If you bought office for the mac they would send you a rebate of $100.

My check arrived today. I'll deposit in my bank and then transfer it to my ING account.

Trying to Move Forward

I mentioned in my first post that I want to pay off my student loan this year. The reason being I want to use that money to fully fund my IRA. Currently I can only budget $200.00 a month. I just looked at my Fidelity IRA account and I lost another 16 dollars today. I'm really taking a beating Frown
